On January 28, 2025, the Clackamas County Equity Coalition hosted a workshop focused on the recently-released social justice report: Cultivating Belonging in Clackamas County. The report, published by the Coalition of Communities of Color, examines the needs, truths, and desires of communities of color in Clackamas county and issues calls to action to promote equity for all those who choose to live and work  in our county.

The workshop provided an opportunity to gain insight into the report from some of the authors and researchers and to participate in making commitments to implement the report’s calls to action.

Watch the introduction to the report at the January Meeting, approx 22 minutes:

Excerpt

One case-study explores how dominant cultures present obstacles to community work, especially community based organizations (CBOs) like Respond to Racism which are critical to providing services in the community. The table illustrates the difference between events that are dominant culture led, community led and administered by dominant culture, and pure community led.
